Married Teacher at Top Catholic School Claimed Husband 'Neglected' Her After She Admitted to Sex with Student and Sending Nudes

A teacher at St. Xavier High School, a prominent Jesuit all-boys institution in Cincinnati, has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery involving a 17-year-old student. Emily Nutley, 43, admitted to the charges during a court appearance, according to a spokesperson for the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

The scandal unfolded during the fall semester of 2023, leading to Nutley's termination in October 2024 after an internal investigation was launched following the student's allegations. The investigation revealed that Nutley had been sending nude photographs and sexually explicit messages to the minor shortly after her hiring.

Nutley's husband, Jonathan Nutley, filed for divorce just weeks after the allegations came to light. In a surprising twist, Emily accused her husband of "gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty" during their marriage, as stated in legal documents obtained by TMZ. This claim has added another layer of complexity to an already troubling situation.

Prosecutors revealed that Nutley, who was the head counselor at the school, had been pursuing the student outside of school hours. The two met while the student was part of a program designed to assist those struggling academically. Their relationship escalated quickly, with Nutley reportedly performing oral sex on the student in November and engaging in sexual intercourse a month later. These encounters occurred both on and off school grounds.

Even after the student attempted to end the relationship, Nutley continued to pursue him, demonstrating a concerning pattern of behavior. The predatory nature of this relationship was uncovered through an internal investigation by school administrators, who subsequently alerted the Springfield Township police. This prompted a formal investigation by law enforcement.

As the case progresses, Nutley faces a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison when she is scheduled for sentencing on June 10. Additionally, she will be required to register as a sex offender for life, as mandated by the prosecutor's office.
