Streamer Johnny Somali Faces Up to 31 Years in Prison After New Sex Crime Charges
Johnny Somali, the streamer known off-screen as Ramsey Khalid Ismael, is in serious trouble after being charged with yet another sex crime in South Korea. If convicted, he could face a staggering maximum sentence of 31 years in prison.
In 2024, Somali made his way to South Korea, continuing his pattern of disruptive behavior that he had previously exhibited in Japan and Israel. His streams have been marked by disrespectful interactions with locals, interruptions to businesses, and confrontations with fellow content creators. Notably, he was even knocked out by a former Korean Navy SEAL during one of these encounters.

Somali's legal troubles began when he was charged for some of the content he streamed, leading to an ongoing trial. His first court appearance was less than stellar, as he showed up late and reportedly hungover. Since then, the situation has escalated with more serious charges being filed against him.
On May 8, 2025, reports surfaced that Somali was charged with a second sex crime, which could add over ten years to his existing charges. Legal expert Legal Mindset revealed that this new charge involves the distribution of false videos, specifically Deepfakes, which are classified as a sex crime in South Korea.

Previously, Ismael faced a single count related to sharing Deepfakes of Korean streamer BongBong, which depicted a kiss between them. However, the new charge likely stems from other incidents involving Korean streamers who have had negative encounters with Somali, including the aforementioned Navy SEAL who was fined for physically confronting him.

Deepfake-related offenses carry a maximum penalty of 10.5 years in prison. If Somali is found guilty of both counts, he could be looking at a total of 21 years behind bars just for these charges alone.

But that’s not all. Somali is also facing additional charges, including one count of Obstruction of Business, to which he has already pled guilty. This charge alone could add another five years to his sentence. If he is convicted on all counts and receives the maximum penalties, the total could reach 31 years.
Moreover, there are still other potential charges looming over him that have yet to be filed. Ismael is accused of making threats to spread HIV, broadcasting North Korean propaganda, and violating anti-terrorism laws, which could further complicate his legal situation.
