Sydney Sweeney Hints at 'Unhinged' Direction for Euphoria Season Three

HBO Max's acclaimed series Euphoria is gearing up for its much-anticipated return next year after a lengthy break.

In a recent interview with Empire, Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie, revealed that the upcoming Season 3 will be nothing short of “unhinged.”

“Cassie holds a special place in my heart,” Sweeney expressed to writer Rebecca Nicholson. “She’s crazy, flawed, and makes so many mistakes, but it all comes from a place of love—even if it’s a sad version of love. Playing such a wild character is incredibly fun.”

“Sam [Levinson] is a brilliant filmmaker,” she continued. “I’ll read the script and think, ‘Let’s go crazier,’ and he’s always on board. This season is definitely unhinged.”

After airing its second season in 2022, Euphoria was renewed for a third season. However, The Hollywood Reporter noted that the delay stemmed from discussions between Levinson and HBO regarding the narrative direction following the characters' high school experiences.

Last summer, Levinson confirmed that key cast members including Zendaya, Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow will reprise their roles. Notably absent will be Barbie Ferreira and Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away in 2023.

Speculation suggests that Season 3 may feature a time jump, especially after the dramatic conclusion of Season 2, which left viewers with a tense police standoff at Fezco's (Cloud) home.

Currently in production, Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2026.
