Tattoo Artist Roasted for 'Demon-Like' Baby Portrait: 'Sorry You Lost Your Dog, Bro'
In a recent Instagram post, Cairo-based tattoo artist Thomas Tattoos unveiled a portrait that was meant to honor a client's daughter. However, the final product drew comparisons to Gollum from "The Lord of the Rings," as well as other characters like Shrek and various demons. The backlash was swift and severe, with the video accumulating over 31 million views and a flood of negative comments.
“Beautiful tribute, I’m sorry you lost your dog bro,” one user sarcastically remarked, encapsulating the general sentiment of ridicule. The tattoo, which many found visually offensive, prompted a wave of commentary questioning the artist's skills. “What days are you closed?” asked one commenter, while another inquired, “Ayoo, do you accept walkouts?”
Some users speculated whether the baby might simply be unfortunate-looking, with one saying, “Prayers for the baby if it looks like that.” Another added, “Well, it’s not nice to say… But not all kids are pretty and cute.” Meanwhile, a more skeptical observer demanded to see the reference picture used for the tattoo.
Responding to the criticism, Thomas Tattoos shared a side-by-side comparison of the original stencil and the finished piece. Unfortunately for him, this only intensified the outrage. “Bro doesn’t have customers, he has victims,” quipped one user. Another maliciously suggested, “You sell vouchers? My ex is gonna get one for a big piece.”

Typically, tattoo artists specialize in specific styles, but Thomas appears to dabble in various techniques ranging from traditional to fine line and geometric designs. Despite the uproar surrounding his latest work, he remains undeterred. The artist continues to update his followers on Instagram with new projects, including another baby portrait.
As the debate rages on about artistic merit versus customer satisfaction, Thomas Tattoos seems committed to his craft, regardless of public opinion.
