Woman Fatally Shot by Police After Pointing Gun in Upstate NY
A woman lost her life early Saturday morning after reportedly pointing a handgun at state troopers responding to a domestic dispute in upstate New York, according to police reports.
The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. at a residence on Forrest Drive in Deerpark, a town in Orange County, situated near the Pennsylvania border. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man on the front porch who informed them that a woman inside the house was armed with both a knife and a gun, and had inflicted a stab wound on him.
Minutes later, the 69-year-old woman emerged from the home, allegedly aiming a black handgun at the officers. In response, two troopers discharged their weapons, as confirmed by state police.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries, which were treated at the scene, and fortunately, no troopers were injured during the confrontation.
Details surrounding the initial dispute remain unclear, and state police spokeswoman Trooper Jennifer Alvarez refrained from disclosing the type of firearm the woman possessed, emphasizing that the investigation is still ongoing.

This incident marks the fourth police-involved shooting in upstate New York within just one week. Earlier in the week, David M. Levine, also 69, was shot and killed by troopers after allegedly firing a high-powered rifle outside the Malta barracks.
Following that, on Thursday, Saratoga County authorities fatally shot 37-year-old Brandon R. Moore, who reportedly pointed a BB gun at police after barricading himself in his apartment in Malta. During this incident, two troopers sustained injuries, although the specifics of how they were injured remain unclear.
On the same day, state police apprehended Markell D. Jarrette, 29, after he was injured in a gunfire exchange with a Sullivan County sheriff’s deputy outside a Monticello apartment complex. The series of events highlights a concerning trend of escalating violence involving law enforcement in the region.
