Trapped underground for fourteen days in a collapsed mine | 60 Minutes Australia

When they set off for work Anzac Day 2006, they were two knock-about-miners in a town nobody had ever heard of. Then disaster, a massive rockfall at Tasmania's Beaconsfield gold mine and Todd Russell and Brant Webb were international news. Who can forget it. For days the world watched and waited as rescuers crept towards Todd and Brant trapped a kilometre underground. We rejoiced when they were found alive, then held our breath as the delicate rescue dragged on, seemingly forever. Throughout it all, Todd and Brant remained remarkably calm, finally emerging after 14 days to a jubilant nation, a little surprised by all the fuss. A year on, the boys still marveled at their miracle escape but they were also changed men, deeply troubled by what happened down there.
