The new Marvel Spotlight series, Echo, is set to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on January 9. The series stars Alaqua Cox as the anti-hero, Maya Lopez, also known as Echo, marking her as the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Echo joins the ranks of other morally ambiguous characters such as Bucky Barnes, Loki, and Wanda Maximoff.
Maya Lopez first made her appearance in the Disney+ miniseries, Hawkeye, where she was portrayed as a young mafia leader with a tragic connection to Clint Barton's vigilante alter ego, Ronin. This connection set the stage for her role as the antagonist in the miniseries and hinted at her relationship with Daredevil's nemesis, Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin.
