Rapper Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Santiago Render, was arrested and taken away in handcuffs after winning three awards at the Grammys. The 48-year-old, who is one half of the duo Run The Jewels, won Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

His solo song "Scientists & Engineers" and his album "Michael" were the highlights of the evening as he accepted the awards on stage. However, shortly after, he was involved in a physical altercation and was taken into custody by LAPD officers. He was photographed with his hands cuffed behind his back and a police officer's hand on his arm.

TMZ reported that he was booked for battery following a citizen's arrest. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that a male adult was detained and handcuffed for a physical altercation that occurred on Chick Hearn Court.

The LAPD Central Division arrested and transported a suspect to their facility. The individual, identified as 48-year-old Michael Render, has been booked for Misdemeanor Battery 243(A) PC. Currently, he is in the process of being released.

On the night in question, videos captured the rapper involved in a confrontation with security personnel while exiting the venue. Accompanied by an assistant holding an umbrella, he allegedly pushed a security guard in the shoulder, causing him to fall.

Following the incident, the rapper was taken inside the arena for questioning, and a member of the crowd could be heard shouting, "Free Mike!" This altercation occurred shortly after the rapper expressed remorse during a media interview, stating that he lives with regrets.

After the awards ceremony, the rapper provided a statement, expressing, "Being honest about your age and actions is the only factor that restricts your age.

When I was 20 years old, I believed it was impressive to engage in drug dealing. However, at 40, I began to confront the remorse and consequences of my choices.

By the time I reached 45, I started rapping about my experiences. Now, at 48, I stand before you as a man who possesses deep empathy and sympathy for the mistakes I have made."

The celebrity referred to his three victories as a "sweep" and playfully addressed the audience, stating, "To all those who believe you become too old to rap, nonsense. I don't care if you're 78 and rapping about your conquests in the nursing home, let's make sure we keep hip-hop alive."

Mike has been highly involved in politics, advocating for Black individuals' right to bear arms and expressing that he will always support the second amendment. In an interview with The Guardian, he stated, "It is unacceptable for someone who represents a community that has only recently emerged from apartheid, to willingly surrender their weapon to the government, while the police suffocate you on the streets and bystanders simply record it."
