The Real Reason Larsa And Scottie Pippen Split
May 21 2020
Despite calling it quits in 2018, Scottie and Larsa Pippen have been all over the news lately, Scottie is featured in the Chicago Bulls documentary, The Last Dance, on ESPN, while Larsa is known for her steamy bikini posts on Instagram and being close with the Kardashian family.
The former flames, who share four children, got married in 1997, but things haven't always been great between the pair. They initially announced plans to divorce in 2016, and shortly after their separation, rumors circulated that Larsa was dating rapper Future. However, sources told Us Weekly nothing happened and they were just friends. The insider explained that Larsa was, quote, "focused and dedicated to her children" at the time.
Larsa and Scottie reconciled in 2017 and tried "working on their relationship," a source told People. According to TMZ, they were spotted having a fancy date night in Hollywood, and she appeared to be showing off a new diamond ring. But that reconciliation apparently didn't last long. In 2018, Larsa filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences."
On May 14th, 2020, Larsa responded to a troll who blamed her for divorcing the basketball star. After she captioned a photo of herself on Instagram with:
"Find someone who'll put you first!!"
A hater implied she was the reason for the split, saying,
"Too bad you didn't put Scottie first."
Larsa wasn't having it, and according to People magazine, she responded,
"I did everything for him, literally everything."
Another person commented on the rumors about her straying from Scottie, writing,
"Bro, he was loyal to you, no? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you do adultery first?"
Larsa was quick to clap back, writing,
"Stop tripping dude u don't know what you're talking about. I held him down and still do. Just [because] I don't air his dirty laundry doesn't mean it doesn't stink. I just don't wanna do his laundry anymore."
Despite the reports that Larsa cheated on Scottie, she made it clear that some relationships just aren't meant to be. According to Hollywood Life, she wrote in a since-deleted tweet on April 20th, 2020,
"I was married for 20 years, I did everything for him and my family. People change and that's what really happened. Most people can't even imagine being in a relationship for a week so I know it's beyond imagination. Cheating wasn't the problem."
That wasn't the first time Larsa spoke out about the hurtful allegations, according to Hollywood Life. In 2018, she defended herself, writing on Instagram,
"I'll take a beating publicly [people] saying I cheated when believe me it wasn't like that."
Larsa added that she doesn't care about money since, according to her, she's had money her whole life. What money can't buy is quality time, and Larsa suggested that was lacking in their marriage. The basketball star's wife said she spent her birthday and holidays by herself. She went on to say,
"At some point, I decided I have to live my truth and here I am."
The second episode of ESPN's The Last Dance focused on Scottie's life. Despite being a successful basketball player, the documentary indicated that Scottie was underpaid compared to his other Chicago Bulls teammates.
Larsa was clearly tuning in, because she weighed in on Scottie's finances by sharing a screenshot that claimed he earned more than $109 million during his career and even made $20 million more than Michael Jordan. Along with a "Last Dance" hashtag, she captioned the pic with,
"[Thanks] for your concern Scottie did ok."
It's unclear where these two stand today. Larsa's Instagram page is peppered with pictures of her fit physique and photos of her and Scottie's children, but he's essentially absent from her social media images. Their daughter, Sophia, has shared posts with both her parents while practicing social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, so at least co-parenting appears to be going well.
As of May 2020, their divorce has not yet been finalized. Watch the video to learn The Real Reason Larsa And Scottie Pippen Split!
