According to "Antebellum" creators Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, the film was inspired by one of Bush's nightmares. He dreamed of a woman whose screams of anguish somehow sent her to another time. From there, he and Renz brought the dream to life using horror themes in their big screen adaptation.
