The Truth About Martha Stewart And Snoop Dogg
Dec 15 2020
Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg seemed like such an unlikely duo at first, but with time, these two have epitomized "Best Friend Goals." Sure, they weren't instant besties, but their chemistry was undeniable from the start, when the rapper appeared on Martha to cook up some mashed potatoes back in 2008.
That episode went so well that Snoop returned to help Stewart bake brownies, and by 2014, the famous cook was admitting during a Reddit Ask Me Anything,
"I wish I were closer friends with Snoop Dogg."
A year later, she got her wish — thanks in part to Justin Bieber — when she and Snoop were together at the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber.
Just like that, showbiz's culinary odd couple was born. In 2018, Snoop referred to Stewart as his "homegirl" on The Howard Stern Show, before sharing an interesting tidbit about their early friendship: he accidentally gave her a contact high while filming that Justin Bieber roast.
Stewart admitted this was true during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
The rapper, of course, is famous for his love of marijuana, which his friend fully supports.
2016 saw the launch of Stewart and Snoop's VH1 cooking show, Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party. It was later rebranded as Martha & Snoop's Potluck Party Challenge, and even earned the duo an Emmy nomination in 2017 for outstanding host for a reality or reality-competition program.
The not-so-secret reason behind the show's success was whatever makes their friendship work.
The jury's still out on whether Stewart and Snoop will reunite for a fourth season, but that's okay, because they've got plenty of other projects up their chef coat sleeves — including co-writing a cookbook.
In the meantime, they'll probably continue to create other entertaining content, like their hilarious cooking-centered spoof on Titanic, or the time they substituted clay with a chocolate cake to reenact the pottery scene from Ghost.
Totally normal bestie stuff that's about as unpredictable as this celeb pairing — and fans wouldn't have it any other way.
