RHONJ: The Truth About Jennifer Aydin's Husband
Mar 07 2021
The ladies of the Real Housewives franchise are no strangers to plastic surgery. From fillers and facelifts to implants and nose jobs, the women behind Bravo's smash hit series are famously well-acquainted with going under the knife. But it's not every Housewife that has the benefit of being married to a plastic surgeon! And Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jennifer Aydin has been married to her husband Dr. Bill Aydin since 2002. The couple have five children together, and run a traditional Turkish household.
The Aydins have been going strong for nearly two decades and Bill tries to lead by example. With five kids living at home, parenting can no doubt be a struggle at times, but he says he tries to practice a healthy mix of guidance and rules. He joked with The Daily Dish,
"My dad philosophy is a combination of mind control LOL , self-reflection, friendship, [and] dictatorship. I make sure each one of my children understand they are loved equally. […] The best thing that I want to be known for in this life is who I am as a father, son, and husband."
As for his professional life, Bill runs a successful plastic surgery clinic in Paramus , New Jersey. He took to Instagram to applaud fellow healthcare providers during the pandemic, and also thanked his number one lady for being his main supporter, along with his family, staff, and patients. But despite his outpouring of love for Jennifer, Bill has weathered his fair share of rumors. According to Distractify, Bill and Jennifer's marriage was arranged, and Bill frequently spends nights in their guest house.
Costar Margaret Josephs even called out the couple's relationship and accused Bill of cheating. In Season 10, Bill also revealed to the other reality star husbands that he is, quote, "rarely" intimate with Jennifer, guessing that they get busy about once a month.
In the Season 11 teaser, as accusations of the stars' infidelity flew, Jennifer's castmates gossiped about her reported excessive alcohol use. Jennifer also was diagnosed with COVID in April 2020, according to Page Six, and relied on husband for support.
While 2020 was an especially tough year for Jennifer — from her parents' separation to the pipes bursting in her home — she still put her children first. She threw her son, Justin, a lavish Sweet 16 at the PHD Lounge in Manhattan, during quarantine, writing on Instagram,
"This year's party didn't seem like most for a lot of reasons. Happy birthday to my number one!"
But just how did she find her number one man? While Jennifer and Bill's marriage was arranged, the religious couple apparently never put a ring on it. Well, in the typical sense. Jennifer shared throwback photos on September 25th, 2020, describing when she first got engaged to Bill, and declaring,
"My husband never proposed to me!"
The two first met at Bill's brother James' wedding in Los Angeles, in 2001. They spoke on the phone for six weeks before dating, and during their second encounter, Bill apparently told Jennifer that he knew she was going to be his wife. Jennifer said,
"I was so smitten I immediately said yes and the following week he was introducing me as his fiancée to everybody."
Still, Bill never gave Jennifer an engagement ring — a shocker, for a couple who comfortably rolls in the world of the rich and highly materialistic. The reality star revealed,
"Instead of proposing with a ring, I was given a cross to signify the engagement."
After being married for close to two decades, fans admire the Aydins' ongoing commitment to one another, no matter what. Real Housewives of New Jersey viewers even got a glimpse of their 16th anniversary bash, in Season 9.
As for Jennifer's opinions on infidelity, a heated on-screen altercation between Margaret and Jennifer resulted in Jennifer defending the sanctity of marriage and offering her thoughts on people that cheat. She explained on the show,
"I'm not naive to say that people don't cheat. Do whatever you want to do behind closed doors, but to the f------ grave."
Could she have been subliminally calling out her husband? Or even commenting on herself? While we may never know the dirty details on their relationship, these two seem to be in it to win it.
