Sensory overload at Brazil's famous Carnival - the biggest party on earth | 60 Minutes Australia

Apr 12 2023
Charles Wooley took on an invitation to the biggest party on earth - Brazil's famous Carnival. He learns though, that it was a tough assignment - after all, the Carnival is no one night stand. The locals - all 200 million of them - devote nearly an entire week to letting it all hang out. The Carnival actually started out as a religious festival, a chance to indulge one last time before Lent, when all good Roman Catholics are supposed to abstain from bodily pleasures. Charles admits abstention was the last thing on his mind when he set off, maracas in hand, for Rio de Janeiro party central. For over forty years, 60 Minutes have been telling Australians the world’s greatest stories. Tales that changed history, our nation and our lives. Reporters Liz Hayes, Tom Steinfort, Tara Brown, Nick McKenzie and Amelia Adams look past the headlines because there is always a bigger picture. Sundays are for 60 Minutes. #60MinutesAustralia
