Prince Harry's Visit to the UK: King Charles Too Busy to Meet
May 07 2024

Prince Harry has confirmed reports that King Charles III is too busy to meet with him during his visit back home this week.

"In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty's full program," a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex shared Tuesday in a statement.

"The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."

Harry, 39, touched down in London ahead of the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8. His wife, Meghan Markle, decided to remain in California instead of attending the event.

Multiple sources revealed that Harry had extended invitations to his family for the event as an olive branch, but no one accepted.

No senior members of the royal family are expected to attend, as Kate Middleton is still undergoing treatment for cancer, and Harry remains estranged from his brother, Prince William.

The Prince of Wales and Harry have not spoken for more than a year following Harry’s bombshell memoir and claims of racism within the royal family.

Harry, who moved to the US in 2020, has not been to London since a brief visit in February to see his father upon learning of his cancer diagnosis.

Previous reports indicated that Harry met with Charles at Clarence House for a quick visit that didn't last an hour.

Charles recently announced his return to public duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his cancer diagnosis.

Charles ascended the throne in September 2022 and was coronated in May of the following year.
