Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, shared her sentiments about missing her children on Mother's Day while on a tour in Nigeria with her husband, Prince Harry. The royal couple was in Nigeria for a three-day visit to raise awareness about mental health among soldiers.

During a speech at the Lagos State Government House, Markle, 42, acknowledged the significance of Mother's Day in America and expressed her feelings of missing her children. She mentioned, "Today is Mother's Day, so it feels appropriate that although of course we are missing our children, I'm missing my babies, it feels very appropriate to be in the motherland and amongst family."

While the couple's two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were back in their home in Montecito, California, Markle revealed on her "Archetypes" podcast that she discovered she was 43 percent Nigerian through a DNA test.

Markle was honored with a naming ceremony and received a handwoven Nigerian fabric during their visit to Nigeria. Prince Harry, 39, also addressed the audience, referring to them as his "in-laws" and expressing gratitude for the warm welcome.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the Ilupeju Senior Grammar School to support the work of the Giants of Africa charity, unveiling a partnership between their Archewell Foundation and the organization. The charity uses sports, particularly basketball, to empower and inspire young people.

Markle received belated Mother's Day wishes from Masai Ujiri, the Vice-Chairman and President of Giants of Africa, during the visit. The couple praised the charity's work, emphasizing the transformative power of sports in changing lives and creating communities without barriers.

As Harry showcased his basketball skills on the court, he highlighted the importance of sports in bringing people together and fostering a sense of community. The royal couple's visit to Nigeria not only promoted mental health awareness but also underscored the impact of sports in empowering youth.
