May 25 2024

Soap opera legend Susan Lucci recently disclosed that she was approached to be the star of "The Golden Bachelorette," but ultimately decided it wasn't the right fit for her.

In an interview with People magazine, the 77-year-old actress explained, "I believe that they contacted my publicist and it wasn't for me."

Despite passing on the opportunity, Lucci expressed her admiration for the show's debut season, which featured Gerry Turner as "The Golden Bachelor."

"I really enjoyed watching 'The Golden Bachelor.' This is a new addiction for me," she shared.

Known for her longtime love of the "Bachelor" franchise, Lucci revealed that it was her assistant who convinced her to start watching, and she quickly became engrossed in the drama and romance.

While Lucci opted out of leading the show, her decision opened the door for Joan Vassos to take on the role of "The Golden Bachelorette."

Vassos, a 61-year-old contestant on Turner's season, captured viewers' hearts with her touching story of loss and resilience. Despite leaving the show early to care for her daughter, she is now ready to find love again on national television.

Turner, who proposed to Theresa Nist during his season, faced his own relationship challenges as the couple announced their divorce just three months after tying the knot.

As Vassos embarks on her journey as "The Golden Bachelorette," viewers can expect to witness a new chapter of love and hope unfold on the small screen.
