Sonja Morgan's NYC Townhouse Sells at Auction for Half its Purchase Price
May 30 2024

Sonja Morgan, known for her time on "Real Housewives of New York City," has bid farewell to her upscale New York City townhouse after it was sold at auction for half its purchase price.

The 4,650-square-foot residence, located at 162 E. 63rd St., was originally purchased by Morgan and her husband, J.P. Morgan heir John Morgan, in 1998 for $9.1 million. Following their divorce, the property was listed for sale at $9.95 million in 2013.

Despite various attempts to sell the home over the years, including price reductions and rental listings, it struggled to find a buyer. The townhouse features 5 bedrooms, 5 full baths, and one half bath, boasting custom woodwork, antique hardware, and a beautiful solarium that opens up to a private garden with a fountain and koi pond.

Reflecting on her time in the home, Morgan shared, "This townhouse has been our cherished home for decades. In addition to raising my daughter here, we entertained heads of state, royalty, luminaries, and Fortune 500 CEOs."

She continued, "Now, as an empty nester, I am ready to share this turnkey, easy-to-manage jewel over to someone new to enjoy as we did."

Morgan's daughter, Quincy Adams Morgan, was born in 2000 and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2023. The auction, organized by Concierge Auctions and listed with Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group, closed on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
