May 31 2024

Robert De Niro expressed his satisfaction with the guilty verdict handed down to former President Donald Trump in his hush-money case. Speaking at a Cinema Society screening of his new movie, "Ezra," De Niro stated, "Justice has been served. That's it."

When asked about the possibility of Trump winning the 2024 presidential election, De Niro remained cautious, stating, "For me, it's not over 'til it's over." He also referred to Trump's fervent supporters as displaying "craziness."

De Niro, a vocal critic of Trump, emphasized the importance of continuing to support President Joe Biden. He mentioned plans to engage in more campaigning for Biden in the future.

During a conversation at the "Ezra" screening, De Niro accused Trump of seeking to "destroy" the United States. Trump, who became the first former US president to be convicted on criminal charges, faces sentencing on July 11.

Following the verdict, Trump claimed that the trial was rigged and asserted his innocence, vowing to fight for the country and the constitution. He faces the possibility of federal prison time or probation.

The charges against Trump involved attempts to conceal a payment to Stormy Daniels to prevent a scandal during his 2016 campaign. The trial revealed falsified documents and entries related to the payment.

Other celebrities present at the "Ezra" screening included director Tony Goldwyn, as well as actors Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Bryan Cranston, and Scott Foley.
