Figure skating has been part of the Olympic games since 1908, and it's no surprise that it's as popular as it is. It combines all the complicated choreography and dazzling showmanship of dancing with an incredibly strenuous competitive nature. Figure skating is, in fact, so strenuous that some competitors costumes simply can't handle the physical strain of the moves. With so much on the line during an Olympic performance, skaters are fortunate to have a team of volunteers to assist with last-minute costume repairs, but even this well-oiled machine can break down sometimes.
