Richard Simmons hasn’t been seen in public in the last 8 years and a new documentary is looking at his life and exploring the theories of what could have happened to the beloved motivational fitness instructor. The TMZ documentary is speaking to people closest to Simmons including Suzanne Somers, Dr. Phil and more. A few years before he went into seclusion, while visiting Access Hollywood, he became upset over a joke by Howie Mandel and was found crying backstage. "TMZ Investigates: What Really Happened to Richard Simmons?" premieres August 22 on FOX.
