Diana may have lost the title of Her Royal Highness when she divorced from Prince Charles in 1996, but she retained the title of the Princess of Wales. No one else has held the title since her tragic death in 1997 – but now, another member of the royal family is poised to take the title for herself.
Charles, heir to the throne, is the current Prince of Wales. When Charles assumes the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth, that title will pass to William – and Kate.
